The
egg also represents a union of two brains. According to the Taoists,
the human body functions through three minds, each residing in one
of the three dantians (energy centers). The upper dantian, located
between the brow, houses the upper mind, our spiritual intelligence.
The middle dantian, located in the heart, houses the middle mind,
Consciousness, our original spirit. The lower dantian, located in
the abdomen, houses the lower mind which is associated with feelings
and awareness. It is our second brain. Martial artists focus on their
lower dantian for energy and power. Qigong practitioners focus on
this lower dantian to draw qi (chi) into their body for health. The
qigong master Mantak Chia teaches that one can quieten the brain,
the upper mind, by focusing on the lower dantian. |
