food markets in 1994; it is considered critically extinct.
RS Puppis is a Cepheid variable star in the Puppis Constellation.
Cepheid variable stars which pulsate in well-defined stable period
and amplitude and is used to estimate cosmic distances to nearby galaxies.
The pulsating RS Puppis, one of the most important stars in the sky,
is 10 times more massive than our Sun. It pulsates over a period of
about 40 days with regular changes in brightness. Its light echo is
used to measure galactic distances. |
