Markhor
38.0 x 45.5 cm. (14.9 x 17.9in.)

The markhor is a species of large wild goat found in NE Afghanistan, N and Central Pakistan, Kashmir, S Tajikistan, S Uzbekistan, and the Himalayas. Once listed as endangered, it has been downgraded to Near Threatened in 2015. Though rarely approached by man because it inhabits very steep inaccessible mountain areas, humans are the primary predator, hunting the markhor for sport, meat, and wildlife parts. Other predators are snow leopards, wolves, and black bears.

Triffid Nebula (M20) is an emission nebula with star-forming regions and dust lanes. Opaque dust and dark filaments thread the nebula. The nebula’s glow comes from one single massive star.
