Asiatic Cheetah
38.0 x 45.5 cm. (14.9 x 17.9in.)

Also known as the Iranian or Indian Cheetah, the Asiatic Cheetah used to inhabit SW Asia and India, but is now confined to Iran. It is the only surviving cheetah subspecies indigenous to Asia. Accidents along the road cutting through the Bafq Protected Area account for 40% of their deaths. Other threats come from reduced gazelle numbers, persecution, land-use change, habitat degradation and fragmentation, desertification, and over-grazing of livestock.

The Tadpole Nebula is with embedded open star cluster (NGC 1893). Within the dusty emissions and glowing gas sculpted by stellar winds and radiation are possible sites of ongoing star formation.
