St.
Bartholomew, the Lessor
| This
is the official church of St. Bartholomew Hospital. Lessor was added
to distinguish it from St. Bartholomew the Great next door. Bartholomew served as missionary in India, Ethiopia, Mesopotamia, Parthia, and Lycaonia. In one account he was beheaded; in another he was flayed alive and crucified, head downward. |
