Edmund, King and Martyr
This medieval church was destroyed in the Great Fire
of 1666. Sir Christopher Wren designed the tower like a lighthouse
(1670-79).
Edmund, King of East Anglia, was captured by the Danish Great Heathen
Army; he refused to renounce Christ and died the death of a Christian
martyr. |
