St.
Anne and St. Agnus
This
church was first mentioned in documents of 1137. Only the tower survived
the Great Fire of London (1666). It was rebuilt by Sir Christopher
Wren in 1680.
Grace and chastity: St. Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, is invoked
for protection of the unborn. St. Agnes represents what is chaste,
pure, and sacred; she is patron saint of chastity, girls, and rape
victims. |
